was Skate for Health Day
(Sorry we missed you!)
Test-driving a pair of skates for free -- with a qualified instructor nearby -- is the best way to find out if inline skating is for you! On Saturday, May 12, San Francisco Bay Area residents can do this in a safe and fun environment. Get Rolling Skate School has joined other skate schools across America on Skate for Health Day as part of a greater goal to encourage more people to enjoy this healthy activity. Here's the local plan:
- On May 12, Liz Miller will be at Frank Fisher Park in Fremont all day to teach groups of 8-10 pre-registered inline novices. (Offered only to first-time Get Rolling students.)
- Rollerblade-brand skates and protective gear will be available by pre-arrangement through Liz.
- The free 45-minute introductory clinics are geared for adult beginners.
- If you cannot attend on May 12, after registering at the above link, contact Liz to schedule two lessons for the price of one (first at regular price, second one free).
Register now or see the Frequently Asked Questions page for more details. Email any unanswered questions about this program to info@freeskatlesson.com.
Plan for success
You are encouraged to buy a copy of my book Get Rolling, the Beginner's Guide to Inline Skating and read it ahead of time! You might also be wondering:
- How many lessons do I need to become competent?
- What level beginner am I?
- How easy will it be to for me to master the basics?
On lesson day
- Location: Frank Fisher Park in Fremont (photo and driving directions).
- Time: Multiple start times planned. Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in and gear up.
- Skates: I have a limited supply of Rollerblade loaner skates to reserve in advance. If you are planning to rent or buy new gear, start here.
- Protection: I will ask you to sign a waiver. A helmet, knee and elbow pads and wrist guards are required. My supply of loaner pads is limited so if you have your own, please bring them along. You must supply your own helmet (please make this committment to your own long-term skating safety!).
- Take-Home: You will leave with a Beginning Skills Checklist and a big smile.
