Most Get Rolling Web site visitors don't realize I keep a full-time job in order to support my beloved northern California lifestyle. But amazingly, the many part-time duties of being a skate pro still manage to get done. The winter of 2002 - 2003 has been an especially busy off-season for me. I'm excited to share the results of my deskside toils with all of you! And while you're exploring these announcements at your computer, please excuse me while I go out and get caught up on some skating play time!
Get Rolling third edition (bigger! better!) is once again available for ordering worldwide. The book is also available at quantity discounts to the skate industry for resale. I feel like a proud mom: these last few months of writing, editing and book production tasks were a gratifying labor of love.
Get Rolling Books is the name of my new publishing company from which I self-published the latest edition of Get Rolling. I'll also be publishing the second edition of Advanced Inline Skating (still in print) when it comes due.
My Spring and Summer lessons in the San Francisco East Bay area are open for enrollment. Come on out and get some new skating skills with me, or dust off your old ones with my new Advanced Beginner class.
Two dates remain for Liz's FreeSkateLesson.com classes for spring 2003. Sign up soon!
Liz will be teaching two Zephyr Learn-to-Skate Camps in Hilton Head this year. These 5-day camps are incredible for skill- and confidence-building and a terriffic bonding experience, too. And by the way, Zephyr Adventures is expanding. Active travelers will be interested in their new winter and summer Active Camp Adventures for learning new sports, and Active Culture Tours to exotic locations overseas.
As a grateful survivor of a 1999 bout with breast cancer, it felt exactly right to join the Queen of Hearts Foundation. This is a new non-profit group in my area that raises funds for the 1 in 6 women in the Bay Area—my skate students, neighbors and co-workers—who are diagnosed with the dreaded disease each year. I'll be at Hilton Head during our upcoming Royal Mile, a 5k walk and shopping event on Mother's Day. Otherwise, I'd be there skating the route!
