When You Hit the Road
When you go on skating outings, consider carrying a first aid kit along with your water bottle and sun protection. Even if you are lucky enough to never need its contents, someday, somebody else skating nearby might.
Bobbi Pasternak, an RN who lives and skates near Washington, DC, always carries antiseptic towelettes, antiseptic cream or ointment and various sizes of Band-Aids and non-stick dressings when she skates. And she's used them, too!
You can assemble your own collection of road rash treatments to carry in a fanny pack. If you'd rather purchase a commercially prepared first aid kit, compact-sized kits are available in better sporting goods stores, such as REI.
